Super Ape is an album that doesn't just sound better the more you listen to it, but that sounds better the more reggae you listen to in general - it's a fuzzy, hazy, dreamlike, half-remembered and mis-remembered memory of reggae, and the more real memories you're able to feed into it, the more effective it becomes.

  8. This is a great reissue by Get on Down of the Upsetters incredible and classic "Super Ape." The sound quality is up to my standards for sure, and no issues with the vinyl or anything to be concerned about. As far as I'm concerned an excellent reissue by a company that .

  9. Super Ape offered a series of the producer's finest rhythms, from Devon Irons' "When Jah Come" and the Blue Bells' "Come Along" to Romeo's "War in a Babylon" and "Chase the Devil." All are bathed in the distinct, murky atmosphere that was becoming a Black Ark trademark, then served up in the form of dub-like de-constructions.
